Onset of fieldwork

When your hours can start counting — after your first qualifying class, a qualified supervisor, and a signed supervision contract.

What it means

You may begin accruing fieldwork hours once three things are in place: you’ve started qualifying coursework (attending the first class meeting is enough), you’ve secured a qualified supervisor, and you’ve signed a supervision contract. Hours worked before all three are in place don’t count.

Example

You attend your first graduate class, sign a contract with a BCBA® supervisor, and start logging hours that week.

Where it trips people up

You don’t have to finish coursework first — the first class is enough — but every counting hour has to fall after the contract is signed and inside your 5-year window.
