Supervision contract
A written agreement the trainee and supervisor must sign before fieldwork begins.
What it means
The BACB® requires the trainee and supervisor to develop and sign a written contract at the outset of the supervisory relationship. It spells out each party’s responsibilities, the activities and training objectives, the conditions under which the supervisor will not sign a verification form, the consequences of not meeting responsibilities, and an attestation to follow the BACB® ethics requirements.
Example
Before your first fieldwork hour, you and your supervisor sign a contract confirming they’ve completed the 8-hour training and defining how supervision will work.
Where it trips people up
Fieldwork can’t start until the contract is in place (and you’ve begun qualifying coursework). Retain it — the BACB® can request it in an audit, and it’s kept for at least 7 years.
