Partial months & prorating

A month you don’t work in full — some requirements may need to be prorated by your supervisor.

What it means

When you don’t work a full calendar month (starting mid-month, taking leave, and so on), some requirements may need to be prorated. The BACB® doesn’t provide a formula — it’s the supervisor’s responsibility to determine a reasonable proration and to show how they did it if audited. A month still needs at least 20 hours to count at all.

Example

You work only two weeks of a month; your supervisor prorates the required supervision to match the hours actually accrued.

Where it trips people up

Prorating is judgment-based, so document how it was calculated. And a partial month below 20 hours still doesn’t count.
