Observation with a client

Your supervisor watching you work with a client — 60 cumulative minutes/month (Supervised) or 90 (Concentrated) under 2027; one observation/month under the earlier 2022 rules.

What it means

The trainee must be observed working with a client in the natural environment each supervisory period. Under the 2027 standards this is a cumulative time requirement: 60 minutes per month for Supervised Fieldwork and 90 minutes for Concentrated. (Under the earlier 2022 standards it was at least one observation per month.) In-person observation is preferred, but recorded (asynchronous) or live-video (synchronous) formats are allowed.

Example

Your supervisor watches a 20-minute session three times in a month — 60 cumulative minutes — meeting the 2027 Supervised-Fieldwork observation requirement.

Where it trips people up

The 2027 target is minutes, and it differs by pathway (60 vs 90). Observations logged as a single “contact” under 2022 may not add up to the required minutes under 2027 — check both if you straddle the change.
