Client
Anyone for whom behavior-analytic services are appropriate — and you must work with more than one over your fieldwork.
What it means
The BACB® defines a client as any person (or group) for whom behavior-analytic services are appropriate. You must work with, be observed with, and receive feedback about multiple clients across your fieldwork (not necessarily every month). From 2027, every logged activity must tie to a specific client.
Example
Over your fieldwork you support several clients across different programs — not just one — so your supervisor observes you with more than one.
Where it trips people up
You can’t count work where the client is your relative, someone you’re the primary caregiver for, or a relative of the client’s primary caregiver. The “multiple clients” rule is over the whole fieldwork, so plan for variety.
Let the software track this for you
